Everaldo Matonse (1981) was born in Maputo , Mozambique, into a family with a rich history of creative talent. Matonse began his creative journey sketching images of his surroundings at the age of 15.  His earlier works display the exploration of various media available to him at the time. 

Matonse's desire to travel brought him to South Africa, where he met Clive Sithole, who introduced him to the BAT Centre and many local artists. 

Matonse dedicated his creative skills to wood cut prints illustrating the subject matter that initially ignited his creative passion as a child.
