Sthenjwa Luthuli (b. 1991, Botha’s Hill, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) joined the BAT Centre in 2010. From there he was selected to be a part of the Velobala Programme and was mentored by fellow KZN artist, Themba Shibase.

In 2017 Luthuli was placed runner-up in the Sasol New Signatures competition and in early 2019 he was part of a group exhibition at KZNSA, Ikhono LaseNatali: a body of work commissioned by internationally acclaimed visual activist, Professor Sir Zanele Muholi. In September 2019 Luthuli participated in Latitudes Art Fair with KZNSA Gallery where his work sold out.

Collections include The National Art Bank, The Spier Arts Trust, The Standard Bank Gallery, The Durban Art Gallery.

Luthuli's work reflects on spiritual and ancestral identity, portraying figures that dance, fly and wrestle in space.
