Marianne Meijer (1935-2020) was educated in Holland and emigrated to South Africa in 1958.
Her involvement in the art community of Durban dates back over 30 years - as an artist, as an active KZNSA council member, Friends of the DAG Chair person, art columnist for The Mercury and The Daily News and assistant editor of D'ARTS Magazine. She is an acclaimed painter, well known for her expressive portraiture and still lives.
Meijer participated in many group shows and staged eight solo exhibitions, one at the Market Theatre Gallery in Johannesburg, three at the KZNSA. She also mounted solo shows at the Grassroots Gallery, artSpacedurban, the Bonisa Gallery and the Durban Art Gallery.
Meijer's work is in the permanent collection of the Durban Art Gallery, South Africa.
