Since an early age, Ruth Rankin had a passion for creating beautiful things with her hands. Rankin studied fashion design at DUT and after completing her studies in 2008, she worked in Bahrain as a visual merchandiser. While there, Rankin showcased a clothing collection at Bahrain Fashion Week in 2010. Her love for jewellery and accessories started in the Middle East where she explored making fascinators and creating leather and beaded jewellery.

In 2013, Rankin was one of two designer chosen by David Tlale to intern with him for a year in Johannesburg. Highlights of the internship included traveling with Tlale to New York to work on his NY Fashion Week show, and showcasing her own collection at Mercedes Benz Joburg Fashion Week A/W 2014 under the banner, David Tlale - The Intern. Since then, she has gained industry experience and continues to work on her craft.
