Red clay, mpepho, holy ash and oil paint on canvas 2022 Dimensions (cm): 65 x 90
Moeti's creative practice and choice of materials - red clay collected from the uMlazi River, dried mpepho flower and holy ash from ceremonial mpepho burning - reference her African spirituality. Titled, "Ubani Ozongilanda" (Who will fetch me?) the work depicts a recurring dream of being in limbo, where a spirit has not been claimed by paternal ancestors.
