IZIHLAHLA ZIYOKHULUMA
By Amasosha Art Movement
Izihlahla ziyokhuluma (the trees shall speak).
Izihlahla ziyokhuluma evokes memory and spirits. It invokes truths that reside beyond what the eye can see. Trees are living witnesses. Their roots sink deep into the earth carrying stories of the past. Their branches reach skyward toward the future. They embody continuity and resilience. They are the subtle connections that bind people with their land and history.
This artwork collection reflects growth and patience that Amasosha as a collective have gone through. Further more, it is a testament to the significance of hard work and consistency that has seen them reach their tenth year anniversary. These works seek to amplify the often muted stories amongst the broader African population. Stories that continue to shape and reshape their socio economic landscape.
As influenced by the chosen materials, these works speak a language that connects us with history. Thereby, guiding us to discover ways of surviving and thriving in the contemporary world.
Izihlahla ziyokhuluma reminds us that silence is never empty. It carries language, a quiet wisdom waiting to be received. This exhibition invites the audience to pause, reflect, and inhabit a space where memory, resilience, and presence converge.
